James S. Anthony, Ph.D
Licensed Psychologist
Dr. Anthony has been in professional psychology practice since 1974. He received his Ph.D. in Psychology with a specialization in Clinical Psychodiagnostics.
He has worked in various government, agency, and hospital settings, as well as in private practice as a Marriage, Family, and Child Counselor, Substance Abuse Counselor, and Licensed Psychologist. He counseled runaway children and adolescents, ran convicted drinking-driver treatment groups, provided a wide range of individual and couple counseling, treated military personnel and those with substance abuse and eating disorders, worked as a Child Guidance Consultant at an elementary school, and assessed, treated, and trained inmates and prison staff. He has taught various undergraduate psychology classes. He has worked with those with sleep disturbances, depression, suicide issues, anxiety, stress including PTSD, anger management, substance abuse, impulse control, psychosis, and sex abuse/offender issues. He was an Employee Assistance Program Coordinator and Counselor.
Dr. Anthony has been in private practice at the Center for Human Development since 1989. His specialty areas include adolescents, limit testers and manipulators, addictions, relationship counseling, depression and anxiety reduction.
He is a member of the American Psychological Association and the Minnesota Psychological Association.
